I am a self proclaimed beauty junkie. This means I love to try any and every new product I come across. Some end up being amazing, while others totally flop. I thought it would be fun to share some of my recent beauty buys! You can shop this post and more at: http://liketoknow.it/shoppingwithsum.
NYX Marshmellow Primer: I have a hate/hate relationship with primers. I must be a glutton for punishment because I continue to purchase them and try them out. I have very dry skin, especially around my eyes. I work hard to achieve a “glowy” look, and primers immediately undo all of my hard work. I have tried Tula, Tatcha, Smashbox and a slew of others and I have never found one I like. I heard great reviews of this one by NYX. I was initially surprised at the price tag for this brand. This primer rings in around $20, which seems expensive. I love the cute packaging (anyone else a sucker for cute packaging?) and the promise of hydrated, long lasting makeup! However, I did not love this product overall. I can honestly say it is my favorite primer I have ever tried, but that is not saying much to be honest. This absolutely made my makeup go on very smoothly, which I loved. I also think it did help my makeup to last all day, which is great. But, the cardinal sin that I can not overlook is that this was drying to my under eye area! It really accentuated the fine lines around my eyes which I am already very aware of. It is all I could think about while I wore this so unfortunately this will sit in my cabinet until I finally decide to toss it. If you don’t struggle with dryness and fine lines and are on the hunt for a primer, this one is promising but just did not work for me. You can tell a big difference in my skin in this photo with the primer and the photos below without the primer. Below, my skin is much more glowy and the lines around my eyes are way less visible!
Living Libations Best Skin Ever Oil: I am very excited about this product! I have seen major changes in my skin since I started using this product ( and I don’t say that lightly). I have noticed increased hydration, more even tone and more radiant skin. I love it! I can’t say enough good about this product. I do want to be fully transparent though, it has a strong smell. I don’t notice the smell anymore but the first few times I used it, I was surprised! For me, the smell is totally worth the amazing results! This definitely ranks as one of my all time favorite beauty buys.
Maybelline Sky High Mascara: I have tried more mascaras than any one person should in a lifetime. I am a mascara junkie. It is my end all, can only have one product again forever product. A quick swipe of mascara can really do a lot even for a makeup free face. I have talked numerous times about my love of Lancome Big Monsieur mascara. However, since purchasing this Maybelline one, I have worn it every single day. It is extremely easy to apply and gives major length! I don’t have to use an eyelash primer with it, which I love. It does not clump and does not flake. I love how it really separates your lashes and coats each and every lash. This is definitely one of most favorite recent beauty buys!
Peter Thomas Roth Mega Rich Cream: I purchased this on a whim during a black Friday sale. I liked that it was called “mega rich”. My dry skin loved the sound of that! This is an anti-aging cream and is very hydrating. It is not heavy or greasy and doesn’t have a fragrance (which I love)! I have been using this for several weeks and I really like it! I have noticed my overall skin looks much more even and hydrated. This in combination with the Living Libations oil is working great for me. I would definitely repurchase!
Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment: Unfortunately I don’t have any before and after pictures for this eye cream. I used to use this a while ago and when I finished the jar I was bored to be honest. I wanted something new and fun. I tried a few different creams and came back to ole faithful here. The jar lasts forever, which is nice. This cream is very hydrating, which is great for my very dry under eye area. I noticed a big difference in hydration when I began to use another cream and I started to miss this boring (yet delightful) cream. It is fragrance free and feels light even though it is very thick. You only need to use one tiny drop of this cream (as I mentioned, it is thick). My only gripe is that I don’t feel like this does anything to treat lines or wrinkles or dark circles. I am unsure why it’s called a treatment and not just Kiehl’s creamy eye cream. That is all it is, eye cream. If hydration is what you seek, then this cream is for you!
NYX Lip Pencil in “Peekaboo Nude”: I am fairly new to the lip liner game to be honest. I keep going on and on about my dry skin, but guess what, my lips are dry too. I used to shy away from lip liner and lip stick and just go with gloss. But, more recently, I have been loving lip stick (with the right gloss over it). This lip liner is a beautiful color! It is a nice pinky nude and works really well with my skin tone. It is a lighter color and looks similar to my natural lip color with just a hint more color. I have been using it to line my lips and fill them in completely before topping with a gloss. I don’t know that it stays on for long periods of time because I top it with gloss which makes it not last as long. Either way I love it, especially for the price!
